The last love

Virat belonged to a poor family but had a millions of dreams in his eyes. His most committed dream was to be a police officer. He completed his graduation and went New Delhi for preparation of services exams; UPSC. After whole day studies and pathetic schedule; in the evening he used to play cricket with local guys in Delhi university campus ground. His cricketing excellence forced him to play in the annual cricket tournament which was about to held in that same campus ground. But his main objective to play in that tournament was to win the best player award and pay his tuition fees. Matches went on and finally his team was knocked out in the semifinals. Inspite of this defeat he was adjudged the best player of the tournament. On the prize ceremony day he was awarded Rs. 20000 cheque and shield. This was perhaps the biggest day of his life. He broke out in tears when he was being presented the shield. He shared his every bit of emotions n feelings with the crowd; his commitment towards his life and family. The whole crowd was so much touched by his feelings that they too got a bit emotional; but a special heart was also touched very deeply in that crowd.

Next day evening when Virat was about to enter the ground, he was greeted with a smile and a palm showing forward for his autograph. She was Mansi; 2nd year B.com student in Hindu College. She used to see him playing everyday in cricket ground, as she too came there for skating and basketball practice. That palm autograph started a new relationship between them. In three months time the equation between them was a bit more than friendship and less than love. None of them approached each other so as to lose each other’s company.

Things went on smoothly between them as a friend. It was 15th October, Mansi’s birthday. Virat and Masni both were mentally prepared that day to propose each other. Virat thought of buying somethimg special for her but his pocket didn’t allowed that. He thought of buying a salwar for her. He went Karol Bagh market to buy as he would get a bit cheaper and a largest variety. Mansi was waiting for him as she was to propose him today.
Virat didn’t come…..he bought a sky blue salwar for Mansi. That sky blue “duppata” was covering his face and he was lying beneath that sleeping forever…he was among the victims of “Karol Bagh bomb blast”.
